No Border School relies on the continuous hard work and enthusiasm of the teachers in our collective. Being a part of No Border School is challenging and rewarding at the same time. We welcome enthusiastic and committed volunteers from any background and we will work with you to ensure your skills and experience are utilized to make a difference.

What We Need

Teachers - first and foremost we need teachers who are passionate about education. However, No Border School also welcomes support from people who want to contribute in other ways to our cause, whether that is by fundraising, volunteer coordination and induction or technical support.

What We Ask from You

  • That you read and reflect on our principles

  • We ask for a minimum commitment of 4 weeks, although we always prefer to have people joining us for longer. We find that this adds to the sense of community building and supports the running of the different projects. (If you are only able to come for less than 4 weeks, and have a specific project proposal, please get in touch.)

  • An open mind and enthusiasm

  • A willingness to participate in consensus based decision making

  • Flexibility, because we respond to needs as they occur. Our working week is rarely the same two weeks in a row.

Roles

As our collective grew we needed to define certain roles so to function more efficiently. Members taking on different roles change freely and as necessary. NBS still works as a collective and as such help and support for each member is provided by the rest of the collective. The roles have been divided as follows:

  • Volunteer Induction

  • Volunteer Recruitment

  • Project Communication

  • Fund-Raising

  • Finance

  • Teacher Training

  • Website and Online Presence

In addition, there are two roles that rotate each week: Meeting Facilitator and Minute Taker.

What You Can Expect

  • Having your voice heard

  • Guidance and support during your time here

  • Skill-sharing and learning opportunities

  • A chance to be part of a dynamic community of teachers and learners

  • Witnessing the impact you have
